JOB SUMMARY
The Research and Evaluation Specialist will lead the research initiatives of CARE Nepal in coordination with the program team.

The incumbent will be responsible to plan, design, test, and implement the research efforts with appropriate methodologies and tools to ensure exploration of knowledge from our different efforts to improve on CARE’s program delivery and quality. S/he should engage in different research efforts to lead its process from planning to collecting and analyzing data, training and monitoring field research team, consolidating findings, and writing reports and scientific articles for wider discussions, feedback, revisions, and submissions to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

S/he will ensure inputs from respective program/project team to ensure quality and productive research in line with the program/project requirements. This position will also be responsible to build and strengthen relations with different academic stakeholders including different universities for the effective and authentic research engagement. This position will also engage in “Sustaining Power for Women’s Rights in South Asia (SuPWR)” initiative along with its other team members under the guidance of its lead and also coordinate with
research focal points from other countries for wider sharing, learning and developing coherent research results.

Description
Required qualifications and experience
> Master’s degree with strong social research skills and a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
> Experience in writing research papers; research coordination; stakeholder engagement and database management.
> Experience in Gender related research studies required
> Demonstrated experience in implementation and management of social science or public health research, including experience with intervention research with a strong combination of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
> Experience with statistical analyses and packages including SPSS, NVIVO and qualitative tools.
> Demonstrated capacity to conduct high quality independent research as evidenced by first authored peer-reviewed publications (or submissions) in international journals.
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali, with particular emphasis on oral communication with research participants, with high level academic writing skills.
> Proven ability to be both self-directed and work in a multidisciplinary team.
> Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to deal with multiple tasks; establish priorities and meet deadlines.
